Like the dog that caught the car, we’re asking “what now?” after Charlottesville’s Art in Place organization selected Rambling Robbie for the 2010 public sculpture exhibit.
Once complete in October, he’ll be just over 6 ft. high, 14 ft. long and weigh about 4000 lbs. We’ll be sure to post images of the build process and installation.
Do let us know if you need a really, really big rhino.

We’re big fans of Myth Busters so we recently shipped them our new full-body Rambling Robbie rhino puzzle and they sent us back this cool autographed card. Rambling Robbie is the most complex model to date so it was just the right thing for the infamous Myth Busters.
Each week special-effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman take on three myths and use modern-day science to show you what’s real and what’s fiction. If you’ve never seen the show it is worth checking out.

Quirk Gallery is hosting an exhibit of Noah Scalin’s skull art. The exhibit displays many of the works featured in Noah’s book “Skulls” as well as a few new pieces, like the sheet-metal skull above. The sheet-metal skull is nearly four feet high and is the same pattern as Noah’s cardboard skull design that we produce (albeit a bit smaller). If you’re in the Richmond area be sure to stop by Quirk and check out the exhibit.

Luis and I have submitted the Rambling Robbie design to the local Art in Place competition. If selected we’ll build a larger than life Rambling Robbie from plate steel and display it in Charlottesville for the next year.
Stay tuned, this could get intersting.

Microsoft has just confirmed they plan on using the crippled Word rendering engine to display HTML emails in Outlook 2010.
This means for the next 5 years your email designs will need tables for layout, have no support for CSS like float and position and no background images. Not to mention the long list of bugs and quirks that break the simplest of layouts.
Outlook 2010 is still in beta and Microsoft wants to hear your feedback on this decision. It’s time to rally together and encourage Microsoft to embrace web standards before it’s too late.
Microsoft has long been an irresponsible net citizen. Why do they continue to cripple their users by failing to supporting web standards? If client stats from our last email campaign are any indication, Outlook is loosing ground to all other email clients.

Our products are designed to minimize waste material. The small amount of scrap cardboard that is produced is all recycled. Our products can also be recycled when they’ve served their purpose and made into new cardboard products.

Think of the Alternative
From time to time we get emails or phone calls from confused individuals that accuse us of promoting the killing of animals. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our trophy heads are a tongue-in-cheek take on hunting and taxidermy. We love animals and support their preservation through the International Rhino Foundation.
All our products are made of recycled cardboard, a sustainable, environmentally friendly product. No animals are harmed in their design or manufacture.
Please be kind.
